This week, I conducted an interview with a professional in finance at a supply chain. This interviewee had lots of experience and credibility in her field and it was interesting to observe the process she took to get to her current position. I learned a lot about her daily tasks and what the most enjoyable part of her job was. I was surprised to find that this professional was involved in a lot of communication in her department. I had previously thought that finance was independent to the point that communication was not necessary, but I found this to be quite the opposite. After comparing the interviews with professionals in supply chain, I found that I am most interested and passionate about supply chain planning. I really enjoyed one of my interviews of the previous week with a professional in supply planning and decided to draft a mentor request to either send her an email or call her. I am very excited about this decision because I would love to get to know her and her career more and I can see my research going very well this year with her advice. I also wrote a reflection explaining my experience at the business symposium the previous week which was a good way to collect my thoughts and my learnings from this great experience. I am very grateful for the opportunity to attend this symposium and had lots to write about thanks to the amazing professionals that offered their time.
