I have been the most proud of myself this week because I took the risk of sending an email, requesting one of the professionals I had interviewed asking for a mentorship. Prior to sending this email, I was nervous and was afraid of being a bother, but I convinced myself that I would rather get a headstart on finding a mentor rather than letting my fear delay the process. Luckily, she quickly responded that she would love to be my mentor for this year. This moment made all the extensive interviews and research worth it, making me feel accomplished and enthusiastic about the future of my studies. Fortunately, I was able to set up a consistent schedule with my mentor visits at a time that is convenient for me and my mentor. I am so excited to get to know my mentor more and receive advice that will eventually aid the creation of my final product. Another thing I accomplished was my original work proposal, where I described my plan for my presentation about my research this semester. Although this proposal will most definitely be subject to change as I further my knowledge of supply planning and brainstorm new ideas, it was beneficial to start looking in the future and imagining what I would like to accomplish at the end of the year. I feel that once I start meeting with my mentor, she can advise me on how to create a project from the knowledge that she plans to share throughout our mentorship. I also wrote an assessment on one of my many interviews, collecting my thoughts on both the experience and what new knowledge I gained about supply planning.
